Louis Wenzlow will be discussing the recently released CMS proposed requirements for the meaningful use of electronic health records, with a focus on what applications will likely need to be implemented for providers to meet the requirements.
Sue Severson will discuss the importance of taking a standardized and structured approach to assess a hospital's readiness for HIT adoption. Sue will focus on how HIT Readiness Assessments can provide a launching pad for hospitals to gain clarity about their unique HIT challenges and build upon their strengths.

Louis Wenzlow
As the Director of Health Information Technology at the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative, Louis Wenzlow organizes and spearheads collaborative health information technology initiatives for member hospitals. Before taking his position at RWHC, Mr. Wenzlow was the Director of Information Technology at Reedsburg Area Medical Center, where he led a variety of EMR system implementations, including CPOE and bedside medication verification, and chaired the HIPAA Security Taskforce. Mr. Wenzlow has served on the Wisconsin Doctors Office Quality-Information Technology (DOQ-IT) Advisory Board, the Wisconsin e-Health Initiative Information Exchange Workgroup, is co-chair of the Rural Health Resource Center's Rural Underserved HIT Coalition, and is a member of the Flex Monitoring Team Expert Workgroup. He also serves as the Chief Information Officer of the RWHC Information Technology Network.
Sue Severson
Sue Seaverson is the Director of Health Information Technology Services, at Stratis Health. Stratis Health is ideally and uniquely positioned to assist Minnesota health care providers with electronic health record (EHR) adoption and ultimately optimization. They have been working in the HIT field for more than five years, both providing technical assistance and support to clinics, and in statewide leadership roles to inform policy and programs. They are closely involved with the state e-Health Initiative. Stratis Health is well integrated into the Minnesota health care community, and is highly valued and respected for the expertise and value we bring in improving quality and patient safety.
